National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) has commenced a training programme on terrorism and extremism.
The training course on Extremism and Counter Terrorism in collaboration with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Saudi Arabia and with assistance from Japanese Government and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Maldives is held at the Islamic Centre in Male' City.
During the welcoming remarks made by the Director General of NCTC Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor highlighted the critical need of such workshops, stating there is a need for innovative and proactive approaches in combating radicalization and extremism.
The programme is participated by over 60 individuals from government agencies, non-governmental organisations and various sectors. The training workshop will conclude on July 31.
