Ministry of Tourism has revealed 11 resorts will be opened in the next six months. The ministry expects several high end brands will open their properties in the country this year.
12 resorts have so far been opened this year, while the authorities expect the number of new properties to be opened in Maldives to amount to 23 by the end of the year, according to statistics of tourism ministry.
Some resorts preparing to open include Riu Palace Maldives developed in Dhaalu Atoll by Spain's Riu Hotels and Resorts, Raffles Maldives Meradhoo Island developed in Meradhoo in Gaafu Alifu Atoll by Singaporean hotel chain Eco Hotels, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah Resort by Residence Maldives and Waldorf Astroria Maldives Ithaafushi developed in Kaafu Atoll. Meanwhile, Rahaa Resort in Laamu Atoll will be opened commemorating Eid holidays.
