President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured no part of Maldives will be ceded to foreigners seeking any temporary advantages depicting as developing the country.
Addressing the nation commemorating the Independence Day of Maldives, President Solih underlined that he believes the biggest responsibility on his shoulder as the leader of the nation is to develop the island nation to enhance its characteristics, rather than being carried away by the political current of the world. While a new year is begun in the era of the independency, the main strategy of the administration will be to ensure peace and stability as well as build happy and capable families, revealed President Solih.
President underlined the individual independence can only be felt, once the mentioned cores are established by granting benefit of the blue economy comprising of surrounding sea, lagoon, reefs, beaches and air to individuals without any barriers.
Moreover, President Solih said despite the will and vision to develop the country, there are values which he will hold by. In this context, the president noted although challenges are faced in developing the country, not an ounce of the nation's land will be given to foreigners to gain a temporary advantage. The core vision of independence should be to bring development in all sectors and gain benefit from the developments, while enhance the richness and maintain the independence, mentioned president.
Shedding light on the foreign policy of the country, President Solih stated importance is given to maintain political independence, economic independence despite the foreign investments, as well as encourage local participation in development.
