Administration committed to health sector development: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has highlighted the commitment of the administration to the health and well-being of all Maldivians.

The vice president also underlined all Maldivian citizens should have full confidence the administration will fulfil its pledge to the Maldivian people to implement a high quality and affordable healthcare system. The vice president made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the Fetal Heart Maldives 2019 workshop jointly organised by Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Tiny Hearts Maldives.

The two-day workshop is the third of its kind held this year and is an ongoing initiative by doctors and Tiny Hearts Maldives, aimed at training health officials and bringing public attention to the topic of fetal heart health.

First session was held on coronary heart disease (CHD) as a public health problem for child health in Maldives, while another session was held on early prenatal markers for CHD and the role of nuchal translucency and first trimester ultrasound screening. Further sessions were held on protocol for second-trimester fetal heart evaluation and new-born clinical evaluation for detecting critical CHD.
