President and first lady returns from state visit to Singapore

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, First Lady Fazna Ahmed and the accompanying delegation have arrived back in Maldives, concluding the state visit to Singapore.

President Solih and First Lady Fazna received a warm welcome from the Singaporean government and participated in a state luncheon hosted by the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob. Additionally, two memorandum of understandings (MoUs) were signed between the two governments.

During the visit, President Solih met with the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister of Singapore Hsien Loong to shine a light on how to further strengthen and diversify bilateral ties between the two countries. President Solih also met with the members of the Maldivian community in Singapore to better grasp their particular concerns and enquired as to how the Maldivian Government can be of assistance.

Prior to the conclusion of his visit, the president visited Pulau Semakau, an offshore landfill managed by Singapore's National Environment Agency, to learn from Singapore's experiences and expertise in waste management.
