Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to seek assistance from international authorities to evaluate and grade judges depending on their qualifications and excellence.
Addressing a press conference held by JSC, Director Hassan Zaheen stated decisions were made on how to act in pertinent to cases. In this regard, Zaheen said JSC has decided on the matter raised by the parliament to access if the judges meet the necessary requirements.
Noting the commission is preparing to begin the grading procedure as earliest as possible, Zaheen added all the judges in Maldives will be evaluated. He stated JSC also decided to seek international assistance as this is the first time Maldives is conducting an evaluation of the judges.
Speaking at the meeting, Director Moomina Umar expressed an evaluation regulation was formulated in 2014, adding over the years the regulation was never implemented.
