Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has formed a committee to conduct an investigation on Judge Abdulla Didi.
Suspended Judge Abdulla Didi was summoned to JSC late Monday over the matter. Maldives Police Service has sent a letter on June 12 notifying a criminal investigation is ongoing against the Supreme Court judge, revealed JSC.
Citing the letter, JSC said allegations include accepting a USD 1-million bribe to sentence former President Mohamed Nasheed. Although the judge was suspended, he attended his duties. JSC has declared the action as a disciplinary issue, which would also be investigated.
Didi has assured to cooperate with JSC and has also requested for an open investigation.
