Over 130 delegates to attend Maldives Partnership Forum 2019

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has revealed the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 will be participated by over 130 representatives from 35 countries.

Speaking to media regarding the latest preparations of the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid said the biggest aim of holding such a forum is to exhibit the welcoming environment of Maldives to foreign investors. He expressed hope to establish sustainable relationships with bilateral partners and development partners of Maldives.

Furthermore, the foreign minister added the forum commencing on June 17 will be attended by over 130 delegates from 35 countries inclusive of over 27 organisations. Elaborating on the attendees of the forum, the minister said the forum will see the participation of Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Assistant Secretary General of United Nations and Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy of Serbia. With optimism, he revealed several agreements related to development will be signed during the forum.

Moreover, addressing the news conference, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer said the development plan of Maldives for the next 5 years will be delivered within the forum. He added the participants will be given information on the efforts exerted by the government to ensure safety and protection of foreign investors.

The Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 will be inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The forum will bring together bilateral partner countries and international organisations, and other entities to deliberate on the island nation concept and to discuss the development agenda of the Government of Maldives.

The forum will enable the government in its ongoing efforts to foster greater engagement with the international community, establish partnerships with bilateral countries and international organisations to address the myriad of challenges facing the Maldives, and seek support to finance and assistance in implementing economic, social and governance related projects. The forum will focus on the theme "Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives.’’
