Youth must adapt good practices and embrace tolerance: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated Maldives requires a youth generation which adapts to the good practices of development and embrace tolerance.

Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the 2nd Youth Leaders Network Forum, Vice President Naseem said youth must embrace adapting to new things and exert patience to tolerate changes. In this regard, he said tolerance is one of the basic clauses of a well-built society.

Noting every individual is entitled to their individual ideologies, the vice president said therefore it is important to tolerate each other. Describing youth as the root of the development of any country, he expressed youth must choose the right path of development.

Meanwhile, addressing the forum, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla reiterated the comments of vice president, highlighting the religious aspect of tolerance. In this regard, he said destruction is near if there was no tolerance.

The 2nd Youth Leaders Network Forum, participated by 150 youth, is held under the theme: A Culture of Tolerance -Stability of Society. The sessions of the forum will be held on topics; tolerance, freedom of expression, heritage and tolerance, leadership and tolerance, Islam and tolerance, peace and tolerance as well as political tolerance.

Youth Leaders Network, an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, is a consortium of college and university students formed to empower Maldivians and to promote social work.
