Judiciary Commission of Maldives (JSC) has suspended Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Didi.
In a press conference, acting Secretary General of JSC Hassan Zaheen said Judge Abdulla Didi was suspended as Maldives Police Service was investigating a case against him. Zaheen added the case was submitted to JSC by Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed. The judge was suspended with majority of the 12-member commission voting in favour.
Furthermore, Zaheen said JSC had also suspended Family Court Judge Hassan Saeed as the commission is investigating a case against him.
JSC also decided to submit a motion to the parliament to remove Judge Ibrahim Rasheed from Thinadhoo Magistrate Court. It the first time a motion will be submitted to the parliament to remove a judge.
