Parliament Secretariat of Maldives has revealed the special sitting, in which Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give an address, will be held after Maqrib prayer on Saturday. The Parliament Secretariat made the statement in a press statement issued regarding the address to be delivered by Indian Prime Minister Modi when he travels to Maldives on June 8.
In the statement, the Parliament Secretariat said the changes were made to provide time for parliamentarians to attend Maqrib prayer. The statement was issued when opposition parliamentarians criticised the timings of the special sitting as it is not normal for the parliament to convene between Maqrib and Isha prayers. One parliamentarian has also announced he will boycott the sitting.
On occasions, parliament has held sittings and committee meetings between the two prayers.
