Foreign Minister to attend OIC Foreign Ministers Meeting

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has departed to Saudi Arabia to attend the Foreign Ministers Meeting held ahead of 14th Summit of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Foreign Ministers Meeting is scheduled to be held on May 29.

Prior to the foreign ministers meeting, a senior officials meeting was held which was attended by Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor. The meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was attended by member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Meanwhile, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will lead Maldives delegation at the 14th OIC summit held in Makkah on May 31. The two-day forum will discuss key issues facing the Muslim world, including strengthening unity among Muslim states amid rising tensions in the Arabian Gulf.

The OIC was founded in 1969 and is the world's second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations with 57 member states from four continents.
