New Resident Representative of JICA Maldives Office calls on Foreign Minister

The new Resident Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Maldives Kawasaki Mitsuyoshi called on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

During the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid extended warm congratulations to Mitsuyoshi on being appointed as the new Resident Representative to the JICA Maldives Office. Minister Shahid underscored the unique and special relations between the Maldives and Japan and JICA’s generous support towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

The minister also noted that Maldives started receiving the generous services of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) as early as 1982, well before the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The foreign minister highlighted his full support to Mitsuyoshi and assured continued cooperation to JICA.
