Indian Prime Minister to visit Maldives

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to visit Maldives following his victory in the general elections.

Indian Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Maldives, as part of the regional visits to be made after swearing-in for a second term, according to reports. Maldives might be his first state visit since the re-election.

However, no authorities have confirmed the news or the date of arrival, though some media outlets have reported Modi will visit Maldives from June 7-8. Prime Minister Modi visited to all countries of SAARC, except Maldives during his first term in office.

While hopes are high for a visit of the re-elected Indian prime minister to Maldives, the relations between the two countries have strengthened significantly since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih took office.
