Ambassador of Maldives to the UK Dr. Farahanaz Faizal has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.
At the meeting held at the President's Office, the vice president and the ambassador spoke on renewing ties with not only the UK but with other European countries as well, in line with this administration's policy of friendly and constructive engagement with the international community.
Further items discussed included ongoing work at the Maldives Embassy in London; the possibility of obtaining assistance and volunteers from the UK with regard to strengthening the Maldives' health and education sectors; and also facilitating easier air travel between the Maldives and European countries, in order to increase the number of tourist arrivals from the region.
Ending the call, Farahanaz spoke positively on the government's commitment to restoring the Maldives' good image to the world community and for pursuing a foreign policy that will bring many benefits to Maldivian citizens, sentiments the vice president reciprocated.
