Briefing held for Diplomatic Corp on Maldives Partnership Forum 2019

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held a briefing for ambassadors, representatives of multilateral agencies and other officials from the Diplomatic Corp that are resident in Male', on the key developmental priorities of the government, and the arrangements that are underway for the upcoming Maldives Partnership Forum which is due to be held from June 17-18. The briefing was chaired by Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Asim Ahmed.

The Maldives Partnership Forum 2019 to be held on Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives, will be the first in a decade Maldives have hosted its close bilateral and multilateral partners to discuss and deliberate on the direction of the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and its key priorities. Details of upcoming projects that relate to the fulfilment of the 100-day pledges, as well as projects relating to the blue economy, social outcomes such as healthcare, education, housing and governance reform will be circulated and shared with partner countries and institutions with the purpose gathering the necessary information, resources, expertise and capacity to undertake the implementation of the agenda of the administration.

The briefing for the Diplomatic Corp, conducted in collaboration with the President's Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry Planning and Infrastructure, Ministry of Economic Development and the Attorney General's Office, which constitutes the key government agencies in external resource mobilisation.

A senior level delegation from these government agencies, headed by Ambassador-at-large Asim Ahmed, will also be travelling to both Colombo and Delhi, to meet with diplomats and senior officials based in those countries, and to provide information on the upcoming Maldives Partnership Forum, and to respond to any queries the development partners may have on the developmental priorities of the government in general, or on the substantive content of the Partnership Forum specifically.

The Delegation of the Maldives is due to hold a briefing in Colombo on the May 10, and in New Delhi on the May 13.
