Controller General of Maldives Immigration Mohamed Ahmed Hussain has revealed individuals travelling to Maldives would not be allowed to enter the country, if they have not been granted the necessary visas. The Controller General of Maldives Immigration made the statement in the wake of some individuals travelling to Maldives after applying for a special visa or a business visa, but before the institution had processed and approved the travel documents.
Under such circumstances, such individuals would be deported from Maldives, according to Maldives Immigration. Noting individuals who are travelling to Maldives without relevant paperwork are turned back, the institution urged the cooperation from the public and travel agents on such matters.
Recently, Maldives Immigration had begun upgrading the border control systems to ensure security protection. Collective efforts are underway from Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology, Maldives Immigration, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and other relevant authorities to install 70 border control systems across the country.
