The Government of Maldives has established a police station in Bilehdhoo in Faafu Atoll as part of the efforts to broaden the service across the country. The Bilehdhoo Police Station was inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed.
During a recent trip to the island, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said a police station will be established to curb the drug related issues faced in the island. While the police station developed with the assistance from the citizens of the island, President Solih assured to cooperate and support the citizens working to control and solve all social issues.
Speaking after the inauguration, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla said one of the most challenging issues faced in Maldives is maintaining peace and stability, adding the world recognises Maldives as a peaceful country. In this regard, Minister Imran expressed the desire of the administration to maintain the recognition and the traditional belief of peace and stability across Maldives.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed noted the role of Maldives Police Service increases day by day. Lauding the efforts of citizens to establish a police station in the island, the commissioner assured to ensure acceptable services are provided in the island.
