Tourist arrivals from China have increased significantly after several years.
China see the most number of tourist arrivals to Maldives. However, in the past four years, the arrivals from China have decreased.
According to statistics from Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals from China amounted to 19,479 in March 2019, which is an increase of 47.5% compared to the same month of last year. Last year in March, 13,203 tourists arrived from China.
With the significant increase in the tourist arrivals from China last month, the total arrivals from China in the first quarter of the year also increased. In this regard, in the first quarter, over 77,500 tourists arrived from China which is an increase of 5.6% compared to the Chinese arrivals in the same period last year.
