Equipment donated by japan to be utilised in emergencies

Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has stated the equipment donated by the Government of Japan to Maldives Police Service would be utilised in emergencies. Hameed made the statement, addressing the special function held to hand over equipment worth over the USD 2 million from Japan to Maldives.

The commissioner said the equipment, which included vehicles and vessels, would be used across the country and they would be specially set aside in emergencies. He assured efforts would be made to enhance the ties that exist between the Japanese Government and Maldives Police Service.

The document that signifies the donation was handed over at special function held at the Republic Square in Male' City. Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid received the donation on behalf of the Government of Maldives, while the donation was handed over by the Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Keiko Yanai.
