Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated in a globalised world, in the face of varying threats, we as Maldivians should try to be united. He made this remark, addressing the ceremony held at Dharubaaruge, on Friday, to mark Martyrs Day.
During the event, the Vice President emphasized that the best gift our ancestors passed on to us was the sovereignty of our nation and further stated that all Maldivians would want to prolong the Islamic faith within our nation. The Vice President also stated that the lesson we should learn from marking such a day should be, to understand that most of instances where our nation was compromised were because of the actions of our own people. He called upon all citizens to beware of such treason.
During the ceremony, the Vice President also recalled those individuals who were martyred while protecting the nation.
