US pledges USD 20 million as grant aid to Maldives

The United States has pledged USD 20 million as grant assistance to Maldives for sustainable development.

Addressing a gathering held with media outlets of Maldives, Ambassador of US to the Maldives, Alaina Teplitz revealed, government of US has decided to grant USD 20 million to Maldives, to be utilized to initiate sustainable development projects. The Ambassador stated, the grant aid be provided to Maldives in various phases and within five years.

Moreover, the Ambassador expressed while Maldives is in dire need for expertise in different fields, US will provide will extend technical expertise to Maldives.

In this regard, Ambassador Teplitz elaborated, technical support will be provided in fields such as public finance, judiciary, finance and education among others.
