Vice president visits people injured by a fire on Ravaanaa boat

Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited the place where the coast guard brought the people injured by a fire on Ravaanaa boat. He also spoke to those injured and inquired about their state of health.

Ravaanaa boat was a cargo vessel based in Fuvahmulah and had been en route to Vaanee in Dhaalu Atoll, after departing from the capital city of Male’ when it caught fire. The boat was traveling in the waters near Filitheyo in Faafu Atoll when it caught fire. A man died due to suffocation, even though he did not suffer any burns. The authorities revealed he had already passed away by the time he was taken to Nilandhoo Hospital in Faafu Atoll.

While there were 16 people on board when the fire occurred, the remaining 15 people were rescued by the coast guard, out of which 9 were expatriates.
