Ministry of Economic Development has allocated areas from Male' and Villimale' which can operate businesses for 24 hours. Economic ministry has allocated a total of 13 areas to operate 24 hours businesses.
In this regard, in Male', businesses in Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Kan'baa Aisarani Hin'gun, Fareedhee Magu, Sosun Magu, Medhuziyaaraiy Magu, Janavaree Magu, Majeedhee Magu, Buruzu Magu, Orchid Magu, Ameenee Magu and Lonuziyaaraiy Magu can operate for 24 hours. Further, permit was given only to the Ferry Terminal area in Villimale' to operate businesses for 24 hours.
Even though the businesses are granted permission to operate for 24 hours, shops can only sell daily goods, according to economic ministry. Permits will be granted only for the businesses that apply and only if the businesses meet the requirements. In this regard, shops that are given permission to operate 24 hours, must make arrangements to provide services in all hours, except for prayer times.
