Vice President of World Bank for the South Asia Region Hartwig Schafer has met with Minister of Finance and Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
The meeting held with Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer, as part of the official visit of the Vice President of World Bank for the South Asia Region, was held in the VIP lounge of Velana International Airport (VIA). The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Ministry of Finance Ismail Ali Manik and Executive Director for South Asia Region of World Bank Mirza Hassan.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the projects the government attaches most importance to and strengthening ties between World Bank and Maldives. After the meeting, Schafer assured of World Bank's support to the government in the upcoming projects.
Maldives became a member of the World Bank in 1978 and has enjoyed a trusted partnership with the institution for the past 40 years. World Bank has implemented 29 projects across many development areas, worth over USD 255 million.
