Maldives and Finland to further strengthen and enhance existing bilateral relations

Maldives and Finland have discussed ways to further strengthen and enhance the existing bilateral relations between the two countries on priority areas such as upholding rule of law, good governance and cooperation in the fields of informational technology, health, education and environment. The discussions took place during a courtesy call by Ambassador of Finland to Maldives Harri Kämäräinen on Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdulla Shahid congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and also conveyed the importance the government attaches to higher education and expressed the interest of the government in establishing contacts with academic institutions in Finland to seek more opportunities for Maldivian students to study in the country.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Kämäräinen also expressed the readiness of the government of Finland in working closely with the government of Maldives to assist in the priority areas of Maldives.
