President appoints Ambassadors to Germany and Sri Lanka

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Ahmed Latheef as Ambassador of Maldives to Germany and Omar Abdul Razzak as Ambassador to Sri Lanka and presented them with the Letter of Credence at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

The newly appointed Ambassador to Germany Ahmed Latheef began his Foreign Service career in 1981 and served at different posts in the area of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In this regard, Ahmed Latheef served as the first Ambassador of Maldives to China in 2007 and held tenure for 5 consecutive years. The last post he served before the ambassadorship was as the Director General of Transition appointed by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Meanwhile, Ambassador to Sri Lanka Omar Abdul Razzak completed Masters of Business Administration (International) from Edith Cowen University of Australia. Previous work experience of Omar Abdul Razzak includes the post of Minister of States for Home Affairs, Project Monitoring at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury where he was responsible for monitoring the development of all projects in the country funded through external sources and as the Shadow Foreign Secretary of Maldives United Opposition. He is currently also a member of the Joint Opposition Foreign Relations Committee.
