Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resource and Agriculture Zaha Waheed has expressed a separate institution must be established to promote local agriculture products.
The fisheries minister said farmers complain about the lack of marketing strategies for farming products. Minister Zaha said as farming is conducted widely in Maldives, it is important to efficiently market the products. She added efforts are being exerted to sell the products at a suitable price that meet the quality of the products.
Furthermore, the minister noted the administration is working towards ensuring local farming products are healthy and are produced by utilising environment friendly methods. Meanwhile, the ministry has introduced Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) to guarantee the safety of the products.
