Training teachers for the Key Stage 4 to be completed by end of February

Ministry of Education has revealed training teachers for the key stage 4 of the new education curriculum will conclude by the end of February.

The training of trainers programme conducted by National Institute of Education was initiated to develop teachers who will further train additional teachers in their respective islands or atolls on the Key Stage 4 of the new education curriculum.

The training programme was participated by 100 teachers which comprised of 2 teachers from each school in Male' City and three teachers from each atoll. During the training, the teachers were familiarised with utilising the latest facilities of science and technology, in addition to teaching smarter with latest skills. Moreover, the teachers also learned shaping classes on how students are interested in and look forward for.

Speaking at the ceremony held to conclude the training workshop, Minister of State for Education Ministry Abdulla Rasheed said under the Key stage 4, teachers will not only learn how to excel in papers, but also learn important life skills. Training all teachers under Key Stage 4 will be concluded by the end of February, the state minister added.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony, Minister of State for Education Ministry Fathimath Naseera noted the importance of adapting to latest facilities and leaving behind the traditional styles of teaching. She said the ministry will closely monitor the functioning of schools and monitor whether the new curriculum concepts are followed.

The new key stage 4 was introduced for grade 9 and 10.
