Maldives represented at Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting

The High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom, Iruthisham Adam, has represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, at the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting held in London, United Kingdom.

During the meeting, member states held discussions on ongoing efforts within the Commonwealth to strengthen the organisation’s effectiveness. The discussions also focused on preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled to take place in November this year.

The meeting provided member states with an opportunity to exchange views on key challenges faced by Commonwealth countries and to discuss ways to enhance cooperation within the organisation.

The Commonwealth currently comprises 56 member states. Since rejoining the organisation, the Maldives has been working closely with the Commonwealth across several areas, particularly in advocating for and promoting the interests of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
