Gili Lankanfushi gears to reopen resort after the dangerous fire incident

Gili Lankanfushi has revealed even though the resort will be closed due to the dangerous fire incident, the management and staff are exerting efforts to recover and reopen the resort for business. The full extent of damage is still being assessed and the resort will be closed for a foreseeable future, according to the resort.

Gili Lankanfushi added, in the meantime, the management is in close touch with the guests and travel partners to assist in rearranging or refunding holidays whilst the resort is closed for renovation. The resort further revealed updates will be shared with the public while the opening is expected to be later this year.

A fire incident at Gili Lankanfushi destroyed a large part of the eco-friendly resort. The fire completely destroyed seven water villas, the kitchen and the restaurant of the resort. The fire broke at around 2300 hours, late Wednesday evening. The resort arranged alternative accommodation by from Jumeriah Vittaveli, Huvafenfushi Maldives and Four Seasons Kuda Huraa for the guests.

Following the reports of the fire, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed visited the resort and assessed the damage.
