The new Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Keiko Yanai has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid. The introductory call took place shortly after Ambassador Yanai presented her letter of credence to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a ceremony held at the President's Office.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid congratulated Ambassador Yanai on her new appointment and assured the full support of the government of Maldives in discharging her duties. He also highlighted the enduring strength of the Maldives-Japan partnership and the close people-to-people contact that form the foundation of the relationship.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel was also present in the meeting.
