Ensuring the equality of citizens is a key priority of the government: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated his administration will never discriminate against a particular island or community, and reassured that all citizens will be treated equally. The president made the remarks while addressing the people of Feridhoo as part of his tour of Alifu Alifu Atoll.

In his speech in Feridhoo, President Solih said safeguarding human rights is one of the most important responsibilities of the administration and ensuring justice for the people is one of its main goals. He also stated the administration has been consistently putting in every effort to resolve the various challenges faced by the people.

Reflecting on the country’s past with regard to promoting human rights, President Solih sadly pointed out areas of previous neglect and emphasised the need to structure the administrative process in a way that painful history of the recent past does not repeat itself. He further reaffirmed the commitment of the administration to upholding its electoral pledges of ensuring the fundamental rights of the people.
