Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated the new government plans to grant some authority to schools once decentralised to allow individual growth.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Education Minister Aishath Ali said the new national curriculum is suitable for Maldives in terms of national development of global growth. However, Minister Aishath stated the major challenges are faced in fully implementing the national curriculum. Such challenges can be solved when the schools are decentralised similarly to government plans, noted Minister.
Furthermore, Minister Aishath revealed efforts are underway to amend the regulations followed by education ministry to grant some authority to schools, adding the aim is to provide education inclusively and without discrimination. The minister also said it will pave way to establish a school based management system in Maldives which will improve relations with schools.
Moreover, the education minister noted the government aims to empower school teachers, principals and staff by providing further training opportunities. She also commended the education policy of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
