Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim has stated that the interactive museum being developed in Male’ City is expected to be completed this year.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, Minister Adam Naseer said the government is making significant efforts to promote heritage tourism as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s plans to diversify the economy and tourism sector. Noting that the construction of the interactive museum is currently underway and progressing, the minister said the work is expected to speed up in the coming month. He expressed optimism that the entire project, or a large percentage of it, would reach completion by the end of the year.
The museum, the first of its kind in the Maldives, will use modern technology and interactive displays to showcase the Maldives’ 4,000-year maritime history and culture. Planned features include immersive experiences related to Maldivian history and heritage, including elements inspired by landmarks such as the Usgekolhu and the Kalhuvakaru Mosque area.
