Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has returned to Maldives after concluding his overseas trip for medical treatment. The former first couple was welcomed at the airport by supporters upon their arrival to Velana International Airport (VIA).
Former President Maumoon travelled to Malaysia a few days after the High Court nullified his one-year prison sentence over an obstruction charge for refusing to hand over his mobile phone to the police as part of an ongoing investigation.
