National Archives advises to store all government records

National Archives of Maldives has advised to refrain from destroying any government document or record by any government authority or institution.

In a circular issued, the National Archives reminded all institutions to abide by the National Archives Act of Maldives. While the circular has been issued, the National Archives has stated it did not receive any information on destroying of documents or records by government authorities. All individuals must respect and store letters, photos, charts, records and information, according to the Article 2 of National Archives Act.

Even though Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on several occasions have accused the government of destroying government records, the President's Office has revealed no such documents were destroyed.
