UN Maldives congratulates Maldivians for exercising voting right

United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Shoko Noda has congratulated Maldivians for exercising their right to vote in the presidential election.

Welcoming the vast percentage of the voting population that cast their votes, Shoko Noda renewed United Nations Maldives will cooperate with Maldivian authorities on all democratic procedures. Noting the presidential election held in Maldives is historic; Shoko Noda stated the voter turnout rate of 89% is extraordinary.

Shoko Noda assumed office on October 19, 2014. Maldives became a member of United Nations in September 1965.
