Tourism assets forecast to increase to USD 13 billion

Minister of Tourism has forecast tourism assets to amount to USD 13 billion, upon completion of the mega developmental projects by the current administration. He made the statement speaking on a special show aired on PSM News to mark the arrival of the one-millionth tourist to Maldives, this year.

Minister Zameer noted that numerous efforts are underway to take Maldivian tourism to the next level.

The minister noted that although, tourism assets stood at USD 3.23 billion when President Yameen came into power, the figure now stands at USD 6.47 billion Rufiyaa and that it is expected to increase to USD 13 billion, upon completion of the mega developmental projects by the current administration.

He said that despite the opposition's efforts to make the global community boycott Maldivian tourism, the administration has managed to reach targets set in the tourism sector. He attributed this success to the solid tourism policy of the current administration.
