Addu city introduces special packages for South African tourists

Resorts in Addu City have introduced special packages commemorating the establishment of direct flights with South Africa in November.
While Addu caters to a tourist capacity of about 800 beds, every resort operated in the city has introduced a special package for tourists from South Africa seeking to visit Maldives. In this regard, Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa, Canareef Resort Maldives and Equator Village have introduced special packages. The packages include all inclusive packages as well as business class packages. All the packages are priced inclusive of taxes and speed board transfer from the airport.
In efforts to introduce new markets to Maldives, the government has revealed the establishment of air links between Johannesburg of South Africa and Addu City. Airbus A340 will be used for the flight operation and 3 weekly flights will be scheduled.
Commencement of direct flights to South Africa is expected to boost the tourism sector in the Addu City region.
