Maldives establishes diplomatic relations with Ethiopia

Maldives and Ethiopia have formally established diplomatic relations.
The Joint Communique formalising diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed by Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations Dr. Tekeda Alemu. The joint communique was signed at the Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the United Nations in New York.
Following the establishment of diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, the Maldives currently maintains diplomatic relations with 170 countries.
Ethiopia is located in Eastern Africa and has a population of approximately 105.3 million.
