In a statement issued, Maldives Police Service called to refrain from promoting convicts and prisoners serving jail sentence, adding legal action will be taken against such activities. The statement of the police force further noted publishing such news and articles are against the law.
Previously, Ministry of Home Affairs has also warned of legal action against media outlets promoting convicts.
