President and First Lady watch parade and cultural festivities held on occasion of Independence Day

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim have attend the special function held on the occasion of the 53rd Independence Day of Maldives. The function was held at Galolhu Stadium.
Upon their arrival, the president and the first lady were received by Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed and his spouse.
The president was offered a presidential salute by the Maldives National Defence Force, following which the combined ensemble of the school bands and the Maldives National Defence Force played the National Anthem.
In addition, cultural and musical performances were displayed at the function by six school and MNDF.
The function was attended by cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, government officials and public.
