President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated loyalty towards the country is the root of patriotism and that those who were loyal will never humiliate the country. Addressing the public of Dhiddhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, President Yameen reiterated his call for everyone to come together united in defence of the country's honour and sovereignty. The President appealed to everyone to put aside the differences and avoid putting forth one's own agenda above the nation's interest.
The administration will always uphold the law revealed the President reassuring that all its actions will be taken in accordance with the country's constitution. Continuing on, President Yameen noted that no one would dispute about punishing those who break the law.
Furthermore, during the visit to the island, President Yameen participated in the ceremony to mark the completion of four projects in Dhiddhoo. In this regard, the President unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the island's clean drinking water services and marked the completion of the beach protection project. The President also marked the completion of the road development project and inaugurated the housing project in the Island.
The four projects conducted in the island cost over USD 9.7 million and was funded from state budget.
