Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has concluded the harbour expansion project of Naifaru in Lhaviyani Atoll.
As a part of the expansion project, the old harbour and the newly developed harbour of the island was connected in July 12. The harbour was expanded up to 57,610 square meters with a 758 metre quay wall and a 783 metre breakwater. Moreover, a 3,000 square metre paved area also has been constructed with installation of 38 harbour lights.
The government of Maldives contracted the development of the harbor of Naifaru in 2012. According the government, the expansion of the harbor will bring a solution for the challenges faced by the islanders due to lack of docking space.
