The land reclaiming dredger of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), ''Mahaa Jarraaf'' has docked at the harbour of Maafinolhu in Haa Alifu Atoll to reclaim the land needed to develop the airport in the island.
The Government of Maldives contracted MTCC with the reclamation of land and the development of the runway of the airport. According to MTCC the reclamation of the 16 hectare land will be completed within month.
Apart from the runway of Maafinolhu, MTCC is undertaking the runway project for Kulhuddhufushi, Funadhoo and Maavarulu airport as well.
The runway developed in Maafinolhu will be 1.2 kilometres long.
