Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has recalled some frozen vegetable products from the market which have been contaminated with the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium.
MFDA warned that several brands of frozen vegetable products could be contaminated that the public should be vigilant against frozen vegetable products over the risk of contamination by the Listeria bacterium. The main food product contaminated with the bacteria was sweet corns of DAT-Schaub Brand, according to MFDA. Moreover, the authority has banned supply of the food products suspected of contamination.
Frozen vegetable products have been recalled from several countries due to concerns they may be contaminated with listeria. The symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes bacterium can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
