Development of the airport of Faresmaathoda fast underway

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that it has provided the equipment needed to reclaim land needed to develop the airport of Faresmaathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The government contracted the project to reclaim land for the airport to Gulf Cobla for USD 2.5 million, and under the agreement, Gulf Cobla will reclaim 13.6 hectares of land for the airport within 90 days, as well as conduct coastal protection and reinforcement. Developing the airport in Faresmaathoda would ease travel and pave the way for greater progress and better tourism opportunities in the southern atolls, according to the government of Maldives.
Including the airport in Faresmaathoda, eight airports are currently under development across the Maldives, most of which the government expects to complete and inaugurate this year.
