Ministry of Education has revealed students will be able to use tablets for academic purposes even without an internet connection
Over 8,000 tablets have been distributed to teachers and around 63,000 tablets will be distributed to students, as part of the school digitalisation project. In efforts to digitalise classrooms and to introduce information communication technology in teaching, teachers have already been trained, and the ministry is conducting training programmes for parents.
The primary focus is enabling students to use the tablets offline, according to the ministry. In this regard, the ministry stated students will be able to use tablets for web searches and save study materials without an internet connection. Students will also be able to go through textbooks from the tablets without an internet connection.
Over 70,000 tablets will be distributed to teachers and students across the country, as part of the school digitalisation programme initiated by the government of Maldives.
