Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has decided all the sectors but the tourism sector have to provide Goods and Services Tax (GST) statements online.
All registered companies earning a profit of over USD 324,525 and less than USD 649,000 should provide a GST statement via MIRA Connect, a tax ruling released by MIRA said. The tax ruling further states even though the statement has to be provided online, Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed has the responsibility to provide another method for submission of statements if requested by a company.
MIRA is developing various methods to make it easier for the taxpayers to provide statements and payments. 62% of the transactions in 2017 were made online, according to MIRA.
